The most eagerly awaited of all the athletes on show at the MEETING AREVA, France’s world-record-holding pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie did not disappoint his fans. Troubled by the wind conditions, the Olympic champion was unable to show his best form but did enough with an opening vault of 5.70m to secure his sixth victory at the Stade de France. After passing at 5.78m, he made three unsuccessful attempts to clear 5.83m. The runaway leader in the Diamond League standings with five wins in five meetings, Lavillenie was followed on the podium by Brazil’s Augusto Dutra (5.70m) and fellow Frenchman Kevin Menaldo (5.70m). Compatriot Damiel Dossevi finished seventh with a jump of 5.45m, while Lavillenie’s younger brother Valentin was unable to clear the starting height of 5.30m.
