Vlasic returns in style

Bouncing back from a foot injury that kept her sidelined for nearly two years, Croatia’s Blanka Vlasic leapt to victory in the women’s high jump at the MEETING AREVA.

Blanka Vlasic is back! After missing the 2012 and 2013 seasons because of a foot injury, the 30-year-old Croatian marked her return to competitive action with victory in the women’s high jump at the MEETING AREVA. Cheered on by a vociferous crowd, whom she made a point of thanking, the two-time world champion went clear at 2.00m at the second attempt, her best of the season. Second place went to Russia’s Mariya Kuchina, who cleared 2.00m for the very first time in her career, while Vlasic’s compatriot and Diamond Race leader Ana Simic could do no better than third with a jump of 1.94m.
